Desert Healing Medical Spa

About Us

Shana Clark • Owner/RN

My name is Shana Clark, I’m the owner and founder of Desert Healing Vitamins here in Kanab. I’ve been in southern Utah for 6 years raising a beautiful family.

After 20 years in emergency medicine, I’ve seen firsthand that true health and healing starts with prevention and a proactive approach to health – long before you end up in the hospital.

Inspired by my mother’s battle with cancer and her success with vitamin therapies, I started Desert Healing to make these beneficial treatments accessible to others. My mission is to help our community thrive by providing the tools, care, and education needed to live and enjoy the very best lives we can.

While in Cedar I got married to my husband, Kaden, and we have two adorable kids Paisley and Trey.
I graduated from SUU with my BSN. I stared my nursing career at the Cedar City Hospital and then spent the last 5 years at an outpatient orthopaedic surgery center.

SA (Seldom) McGee • LAc., Dipl. OM, DACM

I’m a San Diego native who earned my undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Kinesiology before raising a family and running a successful marketing and screen-printing business. Later, I returned to school and completed my Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2018, followed by my Doctorate of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Health Sciences in San Diego.

After several years practicing concierge acupuncture in San Diego, I felt drawn to small-town life and new beginnings in Kanab, Utah, where I now share my passion for Eastern medicine.

I’ve received additional training in 5 Element Acupuncture, focusing on mental and emotional release, and Sports Medicine Acupuncture (SMAC). My work also includes women’s health, facial acupuncture, and micro-needling.

I view Eastern medicine as “a natural healthcare that encourages the body toward homeostasis by observing and following the natural forces of the universe.”

Outside of the clinic, I love traveling, creating designs and marketing materials, hiking, and laughing with friends. During my favorite season—the winter months—you’ll often find me exploring the outdoors with my two rescue dogs.

Heather Sulfaro • Pelvic Health Specialist M.S., M.A., OTR/L
I am a Board-Certified Occupational Therapist, trained in Functional Pelvic Health, with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals of all ages in regaining their independence after illness or injuries. I started out as a travel-therapist and I have worked in various settings across the country, from rural outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, Level 1 trauma hospitals, schools, and ICUs.

I was burnt out trying to manage a home with two young boys and a full-time job focused only on paperwork and billing units. I grew tired of the “sick-care” system, and the lack of attention and priority placed on preventive care, basic education, and support. Especially for new mothers who just delivered either vaginally or via cesarean section. I needed more professionally and I wanted more for moms like me.

After struggling with my own postpartum recovery, I finally advocated for the care I knew I needed. Through my own journey, I realized I am not alone- and neither are you.

Wild Heart Wellness was created to support and empower you in reclaiming balance, strength, and grace as you reconnect with your true, authentic self on your own wellness journey.

I am curious – How can I help you feel whole again?

Jennifer Underwood • LMT

I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist with more than 15 years of professional experience. My journey in bodywork began at the Utah College of Massage Therapy, where I earned both my Master Bodyworker Certificate and LMT license in 2009. Over the years, I’ve built my practice around an intuitive and holistic approach, creating a calm, intentional space where clients feel safe, seen, and deeply cared for.

My specialties include deep tissue massage, myofascial release, cranial sacral therapy, trigger point work, sports massage, and reflexology. I also incorporate breathwork, aromatherapy, and mindful movement to support each client’s overall well-being and balance.

I believe in the body’s innate wisdom and capacity for self-healing. My goal is to help others reconnect with that wisdom—to release pain, reduce tension, and find greater ease in both body and mind. Each session is an opportunity to listen, respond, and guide the body back toward its natural state of harmony.

Outside of my practice, I’m continually expanding my knowledge through continuing education and personal growth work. I find inspiration in nature, community, and simple moments of mindfulness—all of which fuel my commitment to holistic healing and compassionate care.

Carlie Hendricks • LMT

I’ve been practicing massage therapy since 2005, after graduating from the East West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon, where I became both state and nationally certified. From the beginning, I’ve been dedicated to the healing benefits of massage and to supporting the well-being of every client I work with.

Over the years, I’ve received extensive training in a variety of massage modalities, which allows me to customize each session to meet individual needs. My work focuses on reducing and eliminating both chronic and acute pain while helping clients regain ease of movement and a deeper sense of balance.

I also completed a yoga teacher training program with the DAYA Foundation, which has expanded my understanding of the mind-body connection and further enriched my approach to holistic health. Integrating movement, breath, and awareness into my sessions allows me to help clients experience lasting relief and improved overall vitality.

What I love most about my work is seeing people reconnect with their bodies—witnessing the shift that happens when tension releases, energy flows freely, and someone walks out feeling more grounded, open, and at peace. For me, massage therapy is both a profession and a calling, and I feel grateful each day to be part of my clients’ healing journeys.

Pilar Placone, PhD • Qi Gong

I hold a Doctorate of Philosophy in Integral Psychology, where I focused my studies on the mental health benefits of integrating Eastern spiritual practices, neuroscience, and Western psychotherapy. As a licensed psychotherapist, I’ve been honored to serve clients in private practice for over 33 years, helping individuals cultivate balance, awareness, and emotional well-being.

My lifelong love of movement and mindfulness led me to study martial arts, and I am a ranked 2nd degree Brown Sash student of Choy Li Fut Kung Fu. My daily health practice centers on Yang-style Tai Chi and Qigong, which I trained in at the White Dragon Martial Arts School in San Diego, California.

Outside of my professional life, I find joy in deep sea diving, cooking, gardening, and volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary alongside my husband and our dogs—a grounding practice that keeps me connected to nature and service.

Megan Claflin • Yoga

I’m a 200-hour certified yoga instructor through YogaWorks, offering classes that blend precise instruction, mindful alignment, and fluid movement. Rooted in Vinyasa, my classes range from moderate to vigorous, always emphasizing breath and intentional sequencing. I encourage the use of props and offer modifications to create an accessible, personalized experience for every student.

In addition to Vinyasa, I also teach Yin (Deep Stretch), guiding students toward stillness, release, and a deeper connection between body and mind. Whether we’re building strength or creating space, my goal is to help students find balance—both on and off the mat.

Lara Hendrickson • Manager

My name is Lara and I have been in Kanab for over 10 years now. Life is full with 5 teenaged children between my husband and me. I love trail running with my dog, being outside in the sunshine, trying new recipes, growing things, and finding fun ways to be creative.

I’ve always been into health and human potential. I am thrilled to be a part of a team that is equally passionate about helping others live and feel their best. I love working behind the scenes to keep Desert Healing running smoothly and to make sure that Southern Utah knows we’re here!

After spending 2 years undergoing Immunotherapy for Metastic Melanoma I began to have side effects that included joint pain and inflammation and also fatigue. I can say that it was almost immediate that I felt a difference in my energy level from receiving B12 shots. I was no longer taking naps everyday and I find myself needing less sleep at night also. My inflammations in my knees has decreased also. I was never one that benefitted from taking pills or vitamins but the injections are amazing and work well for me. I have had nothing but positive results from taking these injections weekly.
