Desert Healing Medical Spa
About Us
Shana Clark • Owner/RN
My name is Shana Clark, I’m the owner and founder of Desert Healing Medical Spa here in Kanab. I’ve been in southern Utah since 2019 raising a beautiful family.
After 20 years in emergency medicine, I’ve seen firsthand that true health and healing starts with prevention and a proactive approach to health – long before you end up in the hospital.
Inspired by my mother’s battle with cancer and her success with vitamin therapies, I started Desert Healing to make these beneficial treatments accessible to others. My mission is to help our community thrive by providing the tools, care, and education needed to live and enjoy the very best lives we can.
Jaysi King • RN
My name is Jaysi King and I grew up in Kanab. I have been in Cedar City for the last 10 years and am so excited to bring my family back to Kanab.
While in Cedar, I got married to my husband Kaden, and we have two adorable kids Paisley and Trey.
I graduated from SUU with my BSN. I started my nursing career at the Cedar City Hospital and then spent the last 5 years at an outpatient orthopaedic surgery center.
I love doing all things outdoors with my family and also enjoy Disneyland, reading, sports, going for walks, and sweets and treats of all kinds!

I decided to go back to school after my kids got older and have now been in my Nursing career for 3 years. I’ve been traveling/working at the St.George hospital and I have finally transitioned my career back to Kanab.
I am so excited for this new journey in my career and to officially be apart of the Desert Healing team!
SA (Seldom) McGee • LAc., Dipl. OM, DACM
I’m a San Diego native who earned my undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Kinesiology before raising a family and running a successful marketing and screen-printing business. Later, I returned to school and completed my Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2018, followed by my Doctorate of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Health Sciences in San Diego.
After several years practicing concierge acupuncture in San Diego, I felt drawn to small-town life and new beginnings in Kanab, Utah, where I now share my passion for Eastern medicine.
I’ve received additional training in 5 Element Acupuncture, focusing on mental and emotional release, and Sports Medicine Acupuncture (SMAC). My work also includes women’s health, facial acupuncture, and micro-needling.
I view Eastern medicine as “a natural healthcare that encourages the body toward homeostasis by observing and following the natural forces of the universe.”
Outside of the clinic, I love traveling, creating designs and marketing materials, hiking, and laughing with friends. During my favorite season—the winter months—you’ll often find me exploring the outdoors with my two rescue dogs.
Jennifer Underwood • LMT
I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist with more than 15 years of professional experience. My journey in bodywork began at the Utah College of Massage Therapy, where I earned both my Master Bodyworker Certificate and LMT license in 2009. Over the years, I’ve built my practice around an intuitive and holistic approach, creating a calm, intentional space where clients feel safe, seen, and deeply cared for.
My specialties include deep tissue massage, myofascial release, cranial sacral therapy, trigger point work, sports massage, and reflexology. I also incorporate breathwork, aromatherapy, and mindful movement to support each client’s overall well-being and balance.
I believe in the body’s innate wisdom and capacity for self-healing. My goal is to help others reconnect with that wisdom—to release pain, reduce tension, and find greater ease in both body and mind. Each session is an opportunity to listen, respond, and guide the body back toward its natural state of harmony.
Outside of my practice, I’m continually expanding my knowledge through continuing education and personal growth work. I find inspiration in nature, community, and simple moments of mindfulness—all of which fuel my commitment to holistic healing and compassionate care.
Heather Sulfaro • Pelvic Health Specialist M.S., M.A., OTR/L
I am a Board-Certified Occupational Therapist trained in Functional Pelvic Health, with more than 10 years of experience helping individuals regain strength, function, and independence after illness, injury, and major life transitions.
My career has included work in outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, Level 1 trauma hospitals, schools, and ICUs. Through both my professional experience and my own postpartum recovery journey, I developed a passion for a more proactive approach to healthcare—one that emphasizes prevention, education, and support, especially for women during pregnancy and postpartum.
That passion led me to create Wild Heart Wellness, where I help women restore balance, build strength, and reconnect with themselves through every stage of life.
How can I help you feel whole again?
Bekka Patton • Epigenetic Hair Follicle Analysis
I was born and raised in Hawai‘i, where I developed a lifelong love of movement, health, and the outdoors. My husband and I have been married for 21 years and have one child who keeps us busy with dance and volleyball here in Kanab.
My passion for wellness has led me to study nutrition and holistic health for many years. I am currently working toward becoming an Integrative Health Practitioner.
At Desert Healing, my role is to help our clients uncover the root causes of their health concerns with our Epigenetic Hair Follicle Analysis. I’m a strong believer in “test, don’t guess” and the powerful healing that solid data can help facilitate.
I love being part of a team that is dedicated to helping our community feel their best, reach their wellness goals, and acheive real lasting results.
Megan Claflin • Yoga
I’m a 200-hour certified yoga instructor through YogaWorks, offering classes that blend precise instruction, mindful alignment, and fluid movement. My teaching style is welcoming and accessible, creating space for students of all experience levels to explore their practice with confidence.
Rooted in Vinyasa, my classes range from moderate to vigorous, with an emphasis on breath, intentional sequencing, and building both strength and mobility. I encourage the use of props and provide modifications to help each student find what works best for their unique body and goals.
In addition to Vinyasa, I teach Yin (Deep Stretch), a slower, more restorative practice that promotes flexibility, relaxation, and a deeper connection between body and mind.
Whether we’re building strength, improving mobility, or creating space for stillness, my goal is to help students cultivate balance, awareness, and well-being—both on and off the mat.
Cynthia Helgeson ARNP FNP-C • Medical Director
My journey from emergency medicine to integrative healthcare has shaped my passion for helping people live healthier, longer, and more vibrant lives. As an Integrative Medicine Nurse Practitioner and Medical Director at Desert Healing Medical Spa, I focus on longevity, prevention, and addressing the root causes of health concerns through a personalized approach that combines conventional medicine with evidence-based integrative therapies.
I believe healing begins with listening. Whether we’re working on hormone balance, gut health, weight management, IV nutrient therapy, or lifestyle optimization, my goal is to help each patient feel their best today while building a strong foundation for healthy aging.
Based in the Pacific Northwest, I am licensed in both Washington and Utah and have the privilege of caring for patients in both states. I live with my husband, our two children, our dog, and 2 cats, and am excited to bring my passion for integrative medicine, longevity, and whole-person wellness to the Kanab community.
Kelly Campbell • Reception & Administration
Born in Toronto, Canada and spent my summers on a farm in West Virginia. I immigrated to the US in the early 80’s and raised 3 sons. I lived overseas for 5 years. Upon returning to the States, I began to pursue my love of natural medicine. My passion began as a teenager observing my grandmother apply Appalachian folk medicine for healing. I have studied classical and chinese medicinal herbal formulas. I became a Certified Medical Herbalist in 2009 at Classical Formulas, Clifton Springs Hospital in New York, the first Integrative Hospital in the US.
Through the years I have provided private consultations for many individuals with health and diet related issues. I formulated herbal compounds for a supplement company start up. Combining my passions for holistic health, plant medicine and sustainable foraging has led me to share with others through the years.
I lived in Northern Utah in a cabin and in 2025 moved to the Kanab area. I am excited to be a part of a team that has the wellness of our community as their focus.
Lara Hendrickson • Manager
My name is Lara, and I’ve been in Kanab for over 12 years now. Life is full with five teenage children between my husband and me.
I love running Southern Utah trails with my dog, being outside in the sunshine, trying new recipes, growing things, and finding fun ways to be creative.
I’ve always been interested in health and human potential, and I’m thrilled to be part of a team that shares the same passion for helping people live and feel their best. My role at Desert Healing is working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly and to make sure the world knows we’re here.

After spending 2 years undergoing Immunotherapy for Metastic Melanoma I began to have side effects that included joint pain and inflammation and also fatigue. I can say that it was almost immediate that I felt a difference in my energy level from receiving B12 shots. I was no longer taking naps everyday and I find myself needing less sleep at night also. My inflammations in my knees has decreased also. I was never one that benefitted from taking pills or vitamins but the injections are amazing and work well for me. I have had nothing but positive results from taking these injections weekly.
